Workers
Workers serve a dual purpose for
the GLA. Firstly they generate income by moving the supplies
although they are only able to carry $75 worth at a time.
The other downside is that they work slower than the Chinook
or the Supply Truck. Their other role in life is to actually
build structures so you will need lots of workers to get all
of these chores done. The good news? They are very cheap.
|
|
 |
Rebel
Rebels are the GLA equivalent of the US
Ranger and the Chinese Red Guard. Similar to the Red Guard they
are very cheap to produce so you can make lots of them. Their
real usefulness is against other infantry and after an upgrade
to capture buildings. Another upgrade will give them camouflage.
|
|
 |
RPG Trooper
These guys come armed with potent
rocket-propelled grenade launchers and can be used effectively
against all types of vehicle and enemy aircraft. |
|
 |
Terrorist
In
today's political climate I'm not too sure about the inclusion
in this game of a suicidal terrorist but that's what we have
here and that's what he does. This guy is very dedicated to
the cause of the GLA and with a bomb strapped to his body will
be on the look out for any target in order to run up to it and
detonate thus destroying or damaging anything in the vicinity.
As you'd imagine they can be very destructive. |
|
 |
|
Hijacker
Using
camouflage so as to be unsighted from the enemy these units
are able to take over an enemy vehicle and use it against
the enemy. It's possible to reverse an attack by the opposition
by having a group of hijackers laying in wait for just such
an opportunity.
|
|
 |
Jarmen Kell
Very
unique to the GLA is this character. Being naturally camouflaged
he can being extremely difficult to see and is able to pick
off enemy infantry with just one shot. Enemy vehicles also need
to be careful as he is able to take out the driver again with
just a single shot and allow that now driverless vehicle to
be inhabited by Jarmen Krell himself on any other type of infantry
unit. |
|
 |
Angry Mob
The
Angry Mob is a group of ordinary people that the GLA are able
to rouse into a passionate rowdy and dangerous mob. They attack
in large numbers with pistols and Molotov cocktails and the
crowd gets bigger as time goes on. An enemy tactic against such
a threat is to crush them with tanks. |
|
 |

 |
|
|
Radar Van
This
vehicle is naturally enough there to provide radar for the GLA.
It's the only way for them to get Radar and it doesn't carry
any type of weapon although at a push it could run over enemy
infantry. |
|
 |
Technical
This
is quite simply a pick up truck with a machine gun attached.
It's not any good against other vehicles but it is good against
infantry. It's useful in that it can take on board five infantry,
which are then able to fire. Whenever the GLA destroys an enemy
vehicle salvage is left behind. This is very useful because
it enables the Technical to be upgraded. |
|
 |
Scorpion Tank
The
big benefit to the Scorpion tank is that they are so cheap to
produce, which means that you should be able to keep a large
team of them to help repel enemy attacks. They don't really
compared to the tanks of your enemies, but you can add a rocket
launcher that makes it much more effective. The rockets can
even have Anthrax added to them which makes them much more destructive
against vehicles and infantry. |
|
 |
|
Rocket Buggy
This
vehicle is great for hit and run tactics. It's both speedy
and powerful and ideal for sending into range of the enemy,
letting rip with its rockets and dashing off before enemy
units can respond. That's a good thing because if they are
attacked they are very fragile.
|
|
 |
Toxin Tractor
Carrying
supplies of anthrax toxin these vehicles can pump out a sludge
that will be very destructive to all infantry. They are also
able to create a radius around themselves that will continue
to be lethal after the Toxin Tractor has moved on. |
|
 |
Bomb Truck
This
truck is expensive but is able to carry a very explosive payload
that if you choose to upgrade can even be loaded with anthrax.
Another upgrade will give you an even bigger explosive punch.
Being disguised as any other vehicle that might be found on
the map means that this is a very useful unit for the GLA to
use. |
|
 |
Quad Cannon
This
is a pick up truck that has a four-barreled machine gun mounted
in the back. They are able to be quite destructive with this
weapon but likewise it doesn't take much to destroy them either.
They are best used against infantry and even enemy aircraft,
which subsequently mean that they are handy for assault and
defence purposes. |
|
 |
Scud Launcher
This
is the GLA's longest-range weapon and is perfect for destroying
enemy structures. The missiles are not recommended for use against
moving targets but can make an area very dangerous when anthrax
missiles have been used. These launchers are slow and fragile
so you should make sure that they are heavily protected, but
a great tool for devastating an entrenched enemy. |
|
 |
|
Marauder Tank
This
is like a more powerful version of the Scorpion tank. It has
an even par more or less with the Chinese Battlemaser and
like some of the other GLA units it can be improved by its
ability to scavenge parts from other enemy vehicles that have
been destroyed.
Generals Abilities.
During the battle your army can gain extra
strengths and abilities depending on how the war is going.
As the battle progresses you, as a General, will be in line
for promotions that in turn will reward your army with the
extra abilities.
When you are notified of a promotion a menu
becomes available listing the extra abilities that are now
there for you to choose from so the higher the promotion the
greater the ability.

|
Command Centre
This is the GLA's first structure and
is used to create GLA workers who will, in turn, build further
structures. As you progress in the game, this structure can
be used for special attacks, launching of Anthrax Bombs, emergency
repairs and ambushes. |
|
 |
Arms Dealer
This
structure plays the role of a war factory in that the GLA use
it to purchase all their vehicles and armoured units. The Scorpion
Rocket can also be obtained here through research. |
|
 |
Barracks
This
structure should be built right at the very beginning of your
game as it produces all of your infantry and the GLA depends
a great deal on infantry units. The option to capture buildings
by rebels can be researched here. |
|
 |
Black Market
This
structure provides special upgrades for the GLA, such as junk
repair, AP bullets, AP Rockets, Buggy Ammo and Radar Scan. It
also brings in some much-needed wealth. |
|
 |
Palace
The
Palace, like the Black Market, also provides special upgrades
that can be used for your tanks and infantry. The Palace can
be garrisoned by GLA forces for more ground defence. Upgrades
through research can result in Arm the Mob, Camouflage, Toxin
Shells and Anthrax Beta. |
|
 |
Stinger Site
Consisting
of a few RPG Troopers, situated in a camouflaged bunker, the
Stinger Site provides good defence from air attacks and can
also slow or stop enemy approaching. Stinger Sites grouped together
can bring an aircraft down in seconds. |
|
 |
Supply Stash
The
Supply Stash is the GLA's source of income. This is where workers
deposit collected supplies, which enables the GLA to build units
and further structures. |
|
 |
Tunnel Network
The
GLA's Tunnel Network allows the soldiers to move around the
battlefield underground and undetected. These structures can
be used to transport infantry and weapons from one location
to another. When first built, two RPG Troopers and one Anti-infantry
Gun appear at the site. Ten units can be placed inside this
tunnel and brought out of another tunnel own by the same player.
If any of the units are damaged, they can be brought back to
full health while in the tunnel. |
|
 |
Demo Trap
Demo
Traps are a base defence and can be placed anywhere. They will
explode when an enemy unit drives over them but they should
be kept well away from your structures because they will damage
anything within their blast radius. |
|
 |
Scud Storm
This
is the GLA's super weapon and, when launched, will first a series
of Scud Missiles toward its target. Aside from the destruction
caused, it will also release a toxic cloud of Anthrax to take
out any enemy infantry within the area. The effected area will
remain uninhabitable for quite some time. |

|
FIVE-STAR GENERAL ABILITIES
Anthrax Bomb
This bomb is perfect for deterring enemy
infantry and causing terror in an enemy base. It's available
every six minutes and leaves a deluge of toxin, which can
even damage vehicles. There is also an explosion that is capable
of destroying buildings.
