Operation: Silent Dawn - The Training Mission
After hearing at the start of the mission
that GLA forces have taken over a small US base your job is
to recapture it. A small Ranger strike team is made available
for the task although this at first appears inadequate.
Firstly, send in your Rangers to take out
the Rebels near the entrance of the GLA base and you will
receive a group of Humvees that you can use on the Technical
close by. After you've made your first move then glance on
up the map and you'll see a Barracks heavily guarded with
some Technicals and a Stinger Site. They are positioned just
outside of the main part of the base. You need to get to the
Barracks so take your Humvees up to attack the Technicals
and use your Rangers to eliminate the Rebels. Once that is
done then use all you have to take out the Stinger Site. This
will allow Comanches to fly in an airstrike to take out the
GLA vehicles that are inside the fence. At this point you
should have a Ranger capture the Barracks so that you can
heal your wounded and produce extra troops. With the extra
Rangers now available place them into your Humvees in groups
of two or three in readiness for the next part of the assault.
Move your Humvees in to attack the large crowd
of GLA Rebels. This will allow you to free up the Cold Fusion
Reactor that is the power source for your base and clears
the route to your Supply Center. As soon as this is done you'll
find that you have a Chinook added to your command. Also added
are four Crusader tanks.
Now move to the right to liberate the Command
Centre and also capture the Construction Dozer positioned
slightly south of it. At this stage you'll be notified that
the first mission objective has been accomplished and you
are in control of the American base.
The next task is to build a War Factory and
while waiting for that you should produce some more Rangers
to go into the Humvees. Having built the War Factory you can
then use it to repair any vehicles that require it.
Now you have to battle with more GLA forces
to take out their secret laboratory. With your new resources
produce some more Crusader tanks, Humvees and Rangers. You'll
come under attack from some Technicals but your Crusaders
should deal with them comfortably. Move your Humvees to remove
the GLA Rebels up the road which will release five experienced
Pilots that you can put into your Crusaders. Now try and scout
ahead with a Humvee to find the blockade that guards the bridge
and then move in with your full force of Crusaders and Humvees.
The Humvees can deal with the Rebels while the Crusaders take
on the Stinger Site. Once done an airstrike will arrive to
get rid of the units that guard the other side of the bridge.
As you move across the bridge the remaining
GLA forces start to scatter in order to occupy nearby buildings
and you should prevent this by using your Humvees. A group
of Paratroops arrive which provides you with six more Rangers
and four Missile Defenders who immediately occupy some nearby
structures. The GLA defences should collapse quickly which
gets you into the town at which point you should get the infantry
out of the buildings and into a structure that overlooks the
Supply Dock in the north. Now destroy the nearby Stinger Site
and capture the Oil Derricks.
At this point a group of GLA vehicles move
to block the entrance of their base but they should not be
a problem to deal with if you have properly built up your
force. Look out for the two Stinger Sites and two Tunnel Networks.
Take out the Stinger Sites then the Tunnels completely before
moving on with your main assault. Move your whole force into
the GLA base taking out the vehicles first and then the structures.
As you proceed with this more infantry will arrive to help
out.
Now use your Humvees to clear the infantry
guarding GLA facility and you'll find that once a shot hits
this building that a force of helicopters will move in to
complete the job of destroying it. Be careful to move your
own forces back because the buildings demise will cause toxic
chemicals to pour out and kill anything in its way.
Mission accomplished!
